Learn to turn for a good cause!
Everyone is welcome (age 8 and up)—no experience necessary.

What it is: Every year on the weekend closest to Veteran’s Day, we participate in a Woodcraft-wide turn-a-thon, crafting unique pens to send to active and recovering military men and women to show appreciation for their service.

How it works: Show up at The Woodworkers Club any time November 9 & 10 between 10am and 5pm. You will be provided with all the materials needed to complete a pen (blanks, mandrels, bushings, etc.). Volunteers will be on hand to show you how to turn, finish and assemble your pen. Once completed, you can write a note to accompany it and package it up. All the pens will be sent to a central warehouse whereupon military units can request as many as they need.

Make sure you wear close-toed shoes and tie back long hair/refrain from wearing loose clothing that might get caught in the machinery.

You’re welcome to make as many pens as you want or donate already-completed pens. Over the past couple of years, we’ve donated upwards of 1,000 pens. Help us beat our previous record!

Your registration is requested. Though this is a free event, we would like to gauge how many people are attending for our planning purposes.
