Japanese 201 will expand the student’s skill set by covering sharpening, resawing, basic cabinet joinery and drawer construction. Students will lay out all parts on a single board of poplar and build a tool tote with a drawer using traditional tools and techniques including the planing board and wooden nails. Students will be provided with an MDF planing board and wooden nails. The instructor will provide a rabbet plane and students will be encouraged to bring their saw ponies from their JWW 101 class. Feel free to bring your lunch in with you (cold storage available, microwave and toaster oven for hot foods) and plenty of water to keep hydrated. Each student will have a dedicated workbench with an anti-fatigue floor mat to keep you comfortable.
